Tidings HouseHoliday Lighting Request a quote

Lit the way you remember Christmas.

Warm-white lighting for your home, designed to fit its lines, hung by hand and taken down again in January. One color, done properly.

Now booking a limited number of homes for the 2026 season in Monroe, Michigan and nearby.

Warm white, and nothing else.

Before there were controllers and color-changing everything, there was one string of bulbs on the porch and the glow it threw across the snow. That is the look I hang.

  • One color

Commercial-grade C9 bulbs in 2700K warm white, the color of a fire. No chasing patterns, no multicolor, no cold glare.

  • Drawn to your home

Every layout follows your actual rooflines, gables, windows and trees, measured in person before anything is priced.

  • Clean lines

Even spacing, straight runs and cords tucked out of sight, so it looks like the house was built to wear them.

Color temperature in kelvin. Lower is warmer. This sits just above a candle flame and far below the blue-white of 5,000K LEDs.

Three ways to light your home.

Each package is priced by the foot of your home I light, measured at your walkthrough. The numbers below are where each one starts.

Starting prices are for a typical single-family home. Your written quote is set by the measured length of roofline and the number and size of any trees, and the number you approve is the number you pay. Every package is looked after all season. Not sure which to choose? Ask for a walkthrough and I’ll help you decide.

In every package.

  • Commercial-grade C9 bulbs

2700K warm white, built for outdoor winter weather.

  • Clips only

Roof and gutter clips made for the job. Nothing is nailed, stapled or drilled into your home.

  • GFCI-protected power

Every run plugs into a GFCI-protected outlet, with timers set to your schedule.

  • All-season care

If anything goes dark, call me and I’ll come back and fix it at no charge, as soon as the weather and my schedule allow.

  • Takedown and removal

I take it all down in early January and take the lights with me. Nothing for you to store.

  • A written quote

Priced from your measured footage, so there are no surprises on the day.

How it works.

From first message to last strand, five steps and one person to call.

Request a quote
  1. Walkthrough

I visit your home, measure the rooflines, look at your trees and ask where you want the light to land.

  2. Written quote

You get a quote priced by the measured foot, with Bronze, Silver or Gold set against your home.

  3. Installation

I hang everything on clips, run it to a timer and check each strand after dark, so it looks the way you’ll see it.

  4. The season

If a strand or bulb goes out, call me and I’ll come back and fix it. No charge, all season.

  5. Takedown

In early January I remove every light and clip and take it all away.

JP

Hello, I’m Joseph.

Tidings House is a one-person company in Monroe, Michigan, and I’m the person. I walk your property, draw the layout, hang every strand and take it all down again in January. If something goes dark in between, you call me and I come back and fix it.

What I’m after is simple: the warm, even, slightly old-fashioned glow you see through a car window on a snowy evening, and a house that looks like it belongs in it. The name comes from Luke 2:10, “I bring you good tidings of great joy,” which is the feeling a lit house should give everyone who drives past.

Tidings House is part of Pratt Enterprises, which also runs gutter cleaning and property services.

Questions people ask.

How is the price decided?

By the foot. At your walkthrough I measure the roofline and look at the trees, then write up a quote. Bronze, Silver and Gold show where each level starts. Your number depends on the size and shape of your home and how many trees you want lit.

Can you light my trees?

Often, yes. It depends on the size and height of the tree and whether I can reach it safely. Silver covers a tree or large shrub and Gold covers more. Very tall trees are beyond what I can safely do on my own, and I’ll tell you that at the walkthrough rather than promise it. The quote spells out exactly what I’ll light.

When will my lights go up?

I’m booking the 2026 season now. I take a limited number of homes so each one is done properly, and earlier dates go first. Tell me your target date in the form and the quote will confirm it. Takedown is in early January.

Will the clips damage my roof or gutters?

I use clips made for shingles and gutters. Nothing is nailed, stapled or drilled into your home.

What if a strand or bulb goes out?

Call me and I’ll come back and fix it at no charge. Every package is looked after for the whole season, with no limit on visits. I come as soon as the weather and my schedule allow.

Do I need to be home for the install?

No. I only need access to an outdoor outlet. If it isn’t GFCI-protected, I bring a GFCI adapter.

Do I own the lights?

No. The lights stay mine. You’re paying for design, installation, upkeep and takedown, and in January they go away with me.

Do you do colored or blinking lights?

No. Warm white is what I do. I’d rather tell you that now than hang something I wouldn’t be proud of.
